PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

1.    To understand and use the concept of progressional learning

2.  To develop both upper and lower body strength

3.    To increase total body coordination

4.    To increase flexibility in the trunk & extremities

5.    To encourage physical activity as part of a daily life style

6.    To develop a positive self image and self confidence

 

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
There are six levels for students of gymnastics instruction at Dean’s. At each level there is a set group of skills that the students are trying to master. When a child accomplishes the skills at a level, they advance on to the next level. Advancement from one level to another differs from one student to another.

 

Kindergym Program is a 45 minute class designed for students 18 months to 3 years in age.

 

Tots Program is a one hour class and is designed for students 4 to 6 years old.

 

Beginner Program is a one hour class and is for any student 7 years and older.

 

Advanced Beginner Program is a 1 ½ hour class and is by invitation only.  This class is designed for students who are 7 years or older who have completely mastered all skills taught at the Beginner level.

 

Intermediate Program is a 1 ½ hour class and is by invitation only.  This class is designed for students who have completely mastered all skills taught at the Advanced Beginner level.

 

Advanced Program is a 2 hour class and is by invitation only.  This class is designed for students who have completely mastered all skills taught at the Intermediate level.

 


 ADVANCEMENT

1.    Advancement of individual will be upon recommendation of the instructor.

2.    Any questions on advancement should be directed to your child's instructor.

 

PARENT POINTERS

1.    We encourage communication between coach and parent. Feel free to contact us by phone; (510) 861-3391.    Parents are encouraged to share any and all ideas you might have for our program.

2.    Parents - we ask that you do not "Coach your child from the sidelines". This may distract your child and disrupt the flow of the class.

3.    Only those students who are participating in a class are permitted in the area of the gym being used for class.

4.    No shoes are permitted in the gym area.

5.    Gymnasts should be picked up when their class is over. We are not responsible for them before or after their scheduled class time.
